Most of what we make started as a message from someone describing something that did not exist yet. If you have a picture in your head, send it over — half-formed is fine, and a photograph of something similar is more than enough to start from.
Something you saved, something you saw. It does not need to be ours.
A rough drawing on a napkin tells us more than you would think.
A palette, a fabric swatch, the invitation for the day itself.
The occasion, the person, the feeling. That is usually the real brief.
